TERRY JENNER, better known as Shane Warne's mentor and coach, is all set to become the first foreign coach of the Delhi Ranji team. Though the official announcement and unveiling is expected to happen later this month, high-placed sources in the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) have told the Hindustan Times that Jenner is the man the Association has zeroed in on to try and retain the Ranji Trophy Delhi won after a gap of 16 years last season.
Jenner, who is currently the spin bowling coach at the Australian Cricket Academy in Adelaide, will become the second foreign import in the Ranji coaching roster for the next season, with former Pakistani cricketer Intikhab Alam, who will coach Punjab, being the other. Jenner's imminent appointment will, in all probability, lead to the end of current coach Vijay Dahiya's stint at the helm of a team he led to championship glory after a long and barren period without any silverware.
The decision to appoint Jenner would undoubtedly have been governed to a certain extent by a possible announcement from the BCCI to make it mandatory for all Ranji Trophy teams to be coached only by qualified Level 3 coaches in future.
