Gracy Singh's career had started with a bang. She had the perfect debut with the Oscar-nominated Lagaan, gave hits like Munnabhai MBBS and Gangaajal, but then things went wrong.
Her films did not do well and she has not been able to repeat her previous successes. However, the actress, whose next release Deshdrohi is being promoted as her comeback film, says, "I had not disappeared.
I don't know why this film is being called a comeback. I am very much around, it is just that my films are taking a long time to be made.
It is being reported that I am returning to TV but there is no truth in these reports." Besides Deshdrohi, she has two more releases - Aseema, a film based on a novel, and a comedy, Chanchal.
The actress has always been seen playing docile roles and dressed in Indian outfits right from her TV serial, Amanat, to her films. But Deshdrohi sees her shedding that image.
"I play a typical Mumbaiya tapori - a no-nonsense attitude, brave and forthright. I have also performed a lot of stunts in the film,"she says.
There are three other actresses in the film besides her - one of which is Kim Sharma. The two have reportedly never been on good terms.
But that doesn't seem to affect Gracy in any way. "We don't share screen space and I don't care if Kim has ever said anything about me," she says.
The actress also has a word of advice for us. "Don't write me off so soon.
There will be more hits. I don't believe in staying in the news by turning size zero or doing something sensational.
My work has spoken for me and it will in future as well," she sums up. We hope so too, Gracy!.
