Take that, boy!

Last week four men were arrested for eve teasing in Delhi. Nothing surprising - eve teasing is as common as the cold.

What's less common is the role reversal. Women teasing men, or in other words - Adam teasing.

It exists, it's on the upswing and it makes young men wary enough to say that they would "think" twice before venturing into all-female territory. Girls wink, stare and make loud comments.

Pawan Hora, who graduated from college six years ago, says it's been around for a while. "Once I was walking in the campus, when a gang of girls looked my way and said "Arrey waah aaj to nayee shirt pehni hai.

"Michael, a media professional, has often heard words of 'appreciation' while passing by a girl's hostel in Kamla Nagar. "They stand on the balcony, hoot and whistle whenever a good looking guy passes by.

" While many enjoy the attention, the shy guys are embarrassed. Like Anshuman Dangwal, a recent graduate of Hans Raj College whose good looks often bring unwanted attention.

"The girls whistle and say things like Munda jawaan ho gaya and sing songs like Mujhe neend na aaye, mujhe chain na aaye," says Anshuman. But unlike women, who are threatened by eve teasing, Michael finds it "quite funny".

Pawan says it was harmless fun, nothing compared to what women go through. "It's a light hearted thing but unlike men girls know where to stop," says Sakshi (name changed), who works with a PR agency.

"There is a degree of assertiveness among the women," says psychiatrist Dr Jitendra Nagpal, cautioning "any abuse of empowerment is undemocratic." But the girls have tasted the blood.

Natasha, a JMC student, recalls a recent metro ride to Chandni Chowk. "There was a really handsome guy and he was wearing shoes with Vaijyanti written on them.

We took his case on that and saying "Yeh Vaijyanti kaun hai?". It was fun.

" Ankita who recently finished her internship in a well-known company too has indulged in such Adam teasing - with none other than the senior HR executive. "There was a door with a glass panel in between through which I could see him in his cabin," Ankita remembers.

"I just enjoyed looking through and making him feel watched." Was Mr HR executive loving the attention? "Oh, he was turning red.

Don't know if it was due to annoyance or pleasure.".
