Now, tweet on the go!

In a fresh deal, Bharti Airtel has come together with Twitter to make tweeting even more convenient. This is a first of its kind tie up between a major Indian telecom brand and the world's preferred micro-blogging service, Twitter. Airtel customers, if they opt for this service, can now tweet from their mobile phones at Re. 1 and they can receive the tweets for free.

This Twitter application from Airtel, however, has brought mixed response from its users. Ganish Bahl, a business development manager, used to keep looking at his laptop for latest Twitter updates. Now he says life is easier after Twitter has been introduced on Airtel. But Bahl cautions, "It would only be fine for Airtel users. Applications like Twitter should make sure that the user base is not segregated based on the operator".

"Airtel, being the biggest telecom operator in India, now offers this service to over 110 million subscribers and through this, Twitter can now reach more and more people", says Amit, who spends more than 8 hours online in a day. Another Twitter user, Aakriti Agarwal, gives full support to the new application. "It is good for the people who are addicted to Twitter and certainly more convenient if there are no extra charges for it", says Aakriti.

Through its advertising campaign, Airtel has given its users new reasons to tweet. And with more telecom companies joining the Twitter bandwagon, tweeting will soon be right on your fingertips.
