AP bypolls: TRS wins two seats, leads in four others

Hyderabad, Jul 30 (PTI) TRS has retained two Assembly constituencies and was leading in four others among the 12 Assembly segments in the Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh where bypolls were held on July 27. TRS candidates T Harish Rao and K Eeshwar have won from Siddipet and Dharmapuri constituencies respectively.

Rao retained Siddipet constituency with a record margin of 95,858 votes whereas his Congress and TDP rivals lost their deposits. In Dharmapuri, TRS candidate K Eeshwar have defeated his nearest cong rival A Lakshman Kumar by an impressive margin of 58,591 votes.

He secured 86,720 votes while Congress nominee obtained 27,824 votes. TRS was leading in Sirpur, Chennur, Mancherial, Vemulawada.

In the key constituency of Nizamabad, state Congress President D Srinivas was trailing behind his nearest BJP rival after the completion of the ninth round. BJP''s Y Lakshmi Narayana got 38,001 votes while Srinivas obtained 18,387 votes.

The BJP candidate was leading by 19,614 votes. Ballot papers were used in five of the 12 constituencies where the bye-elections were held and counting was in the initial stages of those five seats.
