New Delhi, Nov 22 (PTI) The Centre will set up a specialised school for imparting training to state police personnel in VIP security. The proposed school, to be set up in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, will have specialised courses on protecting VIPs and train about 3,500 police personnel from states and Union Territories every year.
They will undergo short-term courses on use of modern communication devices and techniques, use of computer and intelligence gathering. "As terrorism and Naxalism continue to spread its tentacles across the country, there is a need to have a special training school for VIP security as they are at maximum threat from anti-national elements.
This school will have state-of-the-art facilities and faculties from outside the country to guide policemen on various aspects of VIP security," a senior Home Ministry official said. The institute, to be set up in about 400-acre land, will impart training from constables to officers in the rank of deputy superintendent of police.
