Hyderabad, Nov 8 (PTI) Downplaying the strong resentment in the ruling Congress over ticket distribution for the civic polls in Hyderabad, D Nagender, who quit as city Congress president, today expressed confidence that the party would emerge victorious in the elections. "Though I have quit my post as city Congress president, I am not the one to leave the battlefield mid-course.

We will strive for party''s victory and it will be a homage to late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and a gift to Chief Minister K Rosaiah," Nagender, who is the state Health Minister, told reporters. Nagender resigned from his post of Congress city president following allegations that he engaged in corruption in distribution of party tickets for the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, scheduled to be held on November 23.

Alleging that Nagender and Congress state president D Srinivas had engaged in corruption in ticket distribution, supporters of ticket aspirants had demonstrated outside the residence of Srinivas. Nagender said the list of party nominees and relevant details have been sent to the AICC leadership in Delhi for its perusal.

He had also said that Congress MP Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy, son of late Rajasekhara Reddy, has been invited to campaign in the GHMC polls.
