Teacher held for torturing domestic help

Jamshedpur, Nov 7 (PTI) A teacher was arrested today on the charge of tying his domestic help with chains and physically torturing the man in Telco area in the steel city. The domestic help Vijay Dehri, a resident of Bahragora in Ghatsila sub-division of Jharkhand''s east Singhbhum district, was allegedly chained by the teacher S K Pal ever since he came to the house last year and tortured frequently, police sources said.

The matter came to light when Dehri narrated his plight to the members of the catering party who came to Pal''s residence for a function and the owner of the catering firm in turn apprised Dehri''s family members. An official complaint was later lodged and the accused private tutor put behind bars today.

The ''inhuman act'' triggered shock and disbelief among the residents of the city with local organisations demanding punishment if the charges were found to be true.
