One more person dies due swine flu; 78 fresh cases

New Delhi, Nov 6 (PTI) One more person succumbed to swine flu in the country today even as 78 fresh cases of the disease were reported from across the country. The lone death was reported from Kerala.

Of the 78 cases, Delhi reported 23, Maharashtra 12, Haryana 14 and Uttar Pradesh 5. Out of them, one has a foreign travel origin while the rest are indigenous.

Till date, samples from 75516 people have been tested for swine flu and 18.9 per cent of them have been found to be positive. In Gujarat, two senior officials of the health department have tested positive for swine flu even as Chief Minister Narendra Modi recovered from the disease and attended office today in Gandhinagar.

The state''s Principal Secretary (health) Ravi Saxena said two officials of the state health department, including himself, have tested positive for swine flu. "Myself and Paresh Dave, the additional director of public health, have tested positive for swine flu," Saxena said, adding, "some other officials, who came in contact with me and Dave, have been quarantined.

" The state government has given charge of the health department to Forest and Environment Secretary S K Nanda. Gujarat had 289 positive cases of the deadly infection caused by H1N1 virus and 40 people have succumbed to the virus in the state so far.
