Kerala in trouble at 208/6 against Andhra

Thalassery, Nov 5 (PTI) Kerala were 208 for six in their first innings in reply to Andhra''s 442 at the close of play on the penultimate day of their four-day Ranji Trophy Plate Division Group B match here today. Resuming at the overnight score of 10 for no loss, Kerala lost opener Sambasiva Sharma (16) cheaply with the scoeboard reading 38.

Debutant Sachin Baby then joined opener Jagadeesh and the two negotiated Andhra pacers Shabuddin and Kalyanakrishna with confidence. Sachin (32) added 61 runs for the second wicket with Jagadeesh to take Kerala to 99 before he was run out.

Thereafter, Kerala lost three quick wickets adding only 10 more runs. Experienced Sreekumar Nair was run out for 4, Jagadeesh departed after scoring a solid 50 and Raiphy Vincent Gomes for a duck to push Kerala in a spot of bother at 109 for five.

However, Rohan Prem (52 not out) and wicketkeeper batsman Vinan G Nair (44) stitched together 79 runs for the sixth wicket before the latter departed.
