Underground CNG pipe bursts; no casualty or damage

New Delhi, Nov 5 (PTI) Prompt action by fire officials and police averted a major tragedy today after an underground CNG pipeline burst in front of a hotel here. The incident happened in the early hours when the pipeline burst outside the boundary wall of the Imperial Hotel.

The security guards of the hotel immediately informed police and fire department. Ten fire tenders were rushed to douse the flames.

No one was injured in the incident, police said. Since the incident happened in the wee hours and the fire officials reached the spot immediately, there was not much damage, police said.

They said a sudden leakage in the underground pipeline may have led to the incident and added that the pipe could be linked to the petrol pump next to the hotel.
