Two drown while taking bath in a lake

Hyderabad, Nov 3 (PTI) Two students drowned while taking bath in a lake in Almasguda here this afternoon, police said. The deceased were identified as P Sivakumar, an intermediate first-year student and P Vamsi Prabhu, a first-year polytechnic student, they said.

The duo along with another friend G S Wesley, went to Pochammakunta lake at Almasguda here after reportedly bunking classes and entered the waters to take bath, Vanathalipuram police said. While Sivakumar and Vamsi Prabhu started drowning, Wesley jumped to their rescue, but none of the trio knew swimming, a police officer said.

After hearing their cries, an auto-driver who was passing by jumped into the lake and managed to save Wesely, but the two others drowned, police said. The bodies of Sivakumar and Vamsi Prabhu were later fished out and sent to Osmania General Hospital for conducting post-mortem, police added.

Investigations were on.
