Karna HC issues notices to CM and Health Secretary

Bangalore, Nov 3 (PTI) Karnataka High Court today issued notices to Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and the Health Secretary on a writ petition filed by the Director of Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Trauma and Orthopaedics challenging an inquiry ordered against him. The petitioner, Y V Govindaraju, in his petition also challenged the legality of the notice issued to him by the Institute''s Chief Administrative Officer, Anjan Kumar, whom the government has appointed as the inquiry officer.

Govindraju contended that Kumar was an officer of lower rank and has no jurisdiction to conduct the inquiry into the alleged irregularities in the purchase of medical equipment made out against him. After hearing the petitioner and the government counsel, Justice Ramamohan Reddy issued notices to the Chief Minister and Health Secretary and adjourned further hearing of the matter.
