Dismissed army jawan found hanging from a tree

Allahabad, Nov 4 (PTI) A dismissed army jawan allegedly committed suicide today by hanging himself from a tree here, police said. The body of 29-year-old Shekhar, a resident of Khuldabad locality, was found hanging from a tree near Nehru Park in Cantt police station area, about four kilometres from his house, police said.

Though no suicide note was left behind by Shekhar, his family members claimed he had been suffering from "severe depression" ever since he was expelled from the army three years ago and he had left home this morning saying "I will not come back", police added. Although the family members were "silent" over the reason behind Shekhar''s dismissal, they said he had challenged his termination in a court but lost the case in August this year which had left him distraught, police said.
