New Delhi, Oct 30 (PTI) Swine flu took into its grip Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi who tested positive today, two days after returning from abroad, even as two more persons succumbed to the killer virus in the country. Modi showed symptoms of cough, cold and fever, Atul Patel, one of the four doctors in the team looking after the Chief Minister, said.
The results came this morning, Patel said, adding Modi had insisted on the H1N1 test. 59-year-old Modi, who returned from Russia, will be kept in isolation for seven days at his residence, where a team of doctors are attending on him.
Meanwhile, two more persons succumbed to swine flu in Delhi and Gujarat even as 75 fresh cases of the disease were reported today. Of the fresh infections reported during the day, Kerala recorded the highest number of 21 cases of followed by Karnataka 15 and Maharashtra 12.
Sixty-two fresh cases were reported, out of which three were imported while the rest indigenous. The total number of those afflicted with the disease has reached 13,784.
Till date, samples from 72,838 people have been tested for swine flu and 18.9 per cent of them have been found to be positive for the virus.
