Uproar in Bihar assembly, RJD demands CM's resignation

Patna, Jul 24 (PTI) The monsoon session of the Bihar assembly today got off to a noisy start with the main opposition RJD and its ally Congress demanding resignation of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his alleged failure on all fronts. After demonstrating in the main portico of the house where they shouted anti-government slogans, agitated MLAs of the RJD and Congress entered the house when it assembled for the day.

As Speaker Udai Narayan Choudhary started reading his opening address, most of the Opposition MLAs stood up and chanted anti-government slogans. They waved placards demanding that the Chief Minister resign.

They charged the Kumar-led NDA government with having "badly hoodwinked and cheated" the people of the state. After the Speaker's address, Deputy Chief Minister-cum-Finance Minister Sushil Kumar Modi presented the first supplementary budget and related appropriation bills amid din.

Peace returned when the Speaker started reading out the obituary references of the leaders who died during inter-session period. Choudhary then adjourned the House till tomorrow.
