Kolkata, Jul 22 (PTI) Attacking Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee, CPI(M) leader Biman Bose today questioned the justifiability of his continuing in office even after Left parties had withdrawan support to the UPA government. ''What is the justifiability of his continuing in office after withhdrawal of support to the UPA government?'' Bose, a CPI(M) politburo member, said.
Asked to comment what action his party would take when the CPI(M) Politburo was authorised to take a decision by the central committee, Bose did not make a direct reply but said ''the moment we withdrew support to the UPA government, the premise that worked earlier, turned redundant.'' He said that generally the Speaker was elected from the government and not from supporting opposition parties in the Lok Sabha.
The suggestion to fill the post was made by UPA to Left parties to fill the post during formation of the government, he said. PTI.
