Priya Iyer New Delhi, Jul 20 (PTI) After essaying the role of Maya Dolas in 'Shootout at Lokhandwala' that brought forth rave reviews, Vivek Oberoi now dons the role of Rizwan Khan, a Turkish commando, in 'Mission Istanbul.' Vivek's character in the film repeatedly saves the life of Vikas Sagar (Zayed Khan) who plays a journalist, battles armed gunmen many to one all the time and shrugs it off as just another day in his life.

"During the shooting of Lokhandwala, Appu (Apoorva Lakhia) showed me the story and asked what role I would like to play. Rizwan Khan I said, who else?," says the actor on his role in the film.

On similarities between himself and his character in Mission Istaanbul, he says, "Both, Rizwan and me have tough exteriors but are soft inside." On what kind of research he does before playing a character, Vivek says, "If I am playing a fictitious character I try and prepare a background sketch of what kind of socio-economic class the person comes from.

This sketch always runs as a sub-text in my mind when I am shooting for a scene." "The up side of being an actor is that when I am crying in that dark room called the theater, there are people crying with me," he says while speaking about about the positives of being an actor.

Vivek, who claims to have an adventurous bone, thoroughly enjoyed doing all the stunts in the film. The actor claims to have signed a number of "indemnity bonds", because of his love for adventure.
