Karachi/Lahore, July 15 (PTI) In a prompt crackdown, the Pakistan Cricket Board today suspended Mohammed Asif from all cricket activities following his positive dope test in the IPL and dropped him from the team for the Champions Trophy even as the embattled paceman decided to seek a 'B' sample test to prove his innocence. A day after the IPL identified Asif as the drug offender, the 25-year-old speedster found himself in more trouble with the PCB taking a tough stand and making it clear that he would have to fight the battle alone.

Asif, who was also left out of the 30-member list of probables for the Champions Trophy, will not be allowed to take part or associate himself with any activity related with PCB, ICC or ICC members until a final decision on his dope result is reached. "PCB hereby suspends Mohammad Asif with immediate effect from participating in cricket including its organisation, administration and promotion conducted by or under the auspices of PCB, ICC or ICC members until final decision which includes appeal," PCB Chief Operating Officer Shafqat Naghmi told a press conference in Lahore.

Naghmi said PCB has a zero tolerance towards doping and condemns any such practice in all forms and manifestations. Asif, on the other hand, maintained that he was innocent and said he will seek a 'B' sample test to prove his innoncence.

"I have discussed the case with Asif today and we have decided to exercise the option of asking for his sample 'B' to be also tested," Shahid Karim, Asifs lawyer said. PTI.
