New Delhi, July 13 (PTI) Olympic-bound discus thrower Harwant Kaur today said she was shifting her base to Australia because she did not have a good job in India to continue her athletics career. The Punjab based athlete's decision puts a question mark over her participation at next month's Beijing Olympics "I am shifting base to Australia because I don't even have a good job in India and I may represent Australia in international competitions," she told NDTV. Harwant alleged that she was not given promotion by the Punjab Police and instead demoted to the rank of constable from Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI), the news channel reported.

The report added that she had nor received salary for the last three months and was even humiliated by her department. Harwant had qualified for the Olympics with a throw of 61.09 metres at the 38th National inter-State athletics championships at Madurai last month, bettering 61.00m 'A' standard qualifying mark.

She had finished 13th in the Athens Olympics and also won a silver medal at the Asian championship in 2002. PTI.
