Bollywood director Mazhar Kamran optimistic about his 'Mohandas'

Mumbai, Sep.1 (ANI): Bollywood cinematographer-turned-director Mazhar Kamran is optimistic about his maiden movie 'Mohandas'.

The movie is the directorial debut of Kamran who has been part of the creative teams of famous Bollywood films such as 'Satya' and 'Jhankar Beats'.

The film is about identity theft, and the escapades of a man who shares the Mahatama's name 'Mohandas'. He has to deal with this unusual situation.

Bollywood actor Nakul Vaid plays the protagonist.

Kamran, on Tuesday, told media that Indian audience has matured a lot in terms of their movie taste and he was optimistic that audience would like 'Mohandas'.

"Indian audience is maturing a lot. In fact they are bored about the same usual stuff. New stories and new ways of story-telling does seem to work, so I am quite optimistic," said Kamran.

The movie is stated not a biographical saga of Mahatma Gandhi, it only derives inspiration from his thoughts. It touches various contemporary issues, existential and otherwise.

Sonali Kulkarni, who plays the role of a journalist named Meghna, in the film, also talked about her role in the movie.

"I am in fact playing a person who is very sensitive, very reactive, who is very good at reciprocating when it comes to social situations, but she is stuck with some compulsion," said Kulkarni.

The film 'Mohandas' also features talented actors like Sushant Singh, Sharbani Mukherjee, Sameer Dharmadhikari and Govind Namdeo

Many films have previously derived inspiration from the life of Mahatma Gandhi, the most famous amongst these was Richard Attenborough's 'Gandhi' and Rajkumar Hirani's 'Lage Raho Munnabhai'. (ANI)
