The BSE Sensex fell 0.5 percent in early trade on Thursday, taking cues from weak Asian markets and as investors turned cautious after two volatile sessions.

At 9:55 a.m. (0425 GMT), the 30-share BSE index was down 0.52 percent at 15,829.26 points, with 26 components declining.

The 50-share NSE Index was down 0.7 percent at 4,678.50.
