Mike Hussey scored his third successive fifty with an unbeaten 81 on a slow pitch to guide Australia to 229 for five wickets in the third one-dayer against India on Saturday.
Left-hander Hussey hit three fours and a mighty six in his 82-ball effort, underlining his touch after scoring 73 and 53 in the first two games of the seven-game series tied 1-1.
Skipper Ricky Ponting made a cautious 59 after he chose to open the innings only for the second time in one-dayers, due to a spate of injuries in the squad.
He hit four fours facing 92 balls and added 72 runs with Shane Watson (41) and 56 for the second wicket with Hussey.
Ponting completed his 72nd one-day fifty before he was out leg before to young left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja (2-41) but Hussey held firm.
