Wasim Akram's wife laid to rest in Lahore

Huma Akram, the wife of former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram, was laid to rest in her hometown of Lahore on Monday.

Huma, 42, a psychologist and hypnotherapist died in a hospital in Chennai on Sunday after multiple organ failure.

Wasim told reporters that he had lost a close companion and friend and it would be difficult to bear the loss of his wife. "I just hope I have the courage and fortitude to raise my two kids properly," he said.

Former Pakistan batsman Saeed Anwar led the funeral prayers which were attended by cricketers Inzamam-ul-Haq, Mushtaq Ahmed and Muhammad Yousuf among hundreds of other people.
