MUMBAI (Reuters) - The president of financial markets at India's YES Bank has resigned, people familiar with the matter said on Thursday.

Ajay Mahajan had been at YES bank for more than four years and had earlier worked with Bank of America in India. A bank spokesman and two sources who knew of the resignation did not say what Mahajan's plans were.

The YES bank spokesman said chief financial officer Rajat Monga would assume additional responsibilities as president of financial markets.

International firms such as Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers and UBS have been on a hiring spree in India, often employing staff from rivals, to bolster their presence in the fast-growing Indian markets.
