MUMBAI (Reuters) - Indian shares opened 1.2 percent higher on Thursday, led by Bharti Airtel and ICICI Bank.
At 9:56 a.m., Bharti Airtel shares were up 4.5 percent after it posted a better-than-expected 34 percent rise in quarterly net profit. The shares had opened up 3.6 percent.
At 9:56 a.m. the 30-share BSE index had trimmed initial gains to be up 0.88 percent at 15,073.39.
The 50-issue NSE index was up 0.61 percent at 4,504.30.
