Indian shares rise 3.3 pct, Reliance Comm jumps

NEW DELHI (Reuters) - India's main stock index rose more than 3 percent early on Wednesday, led by gains in index heavyweights Reliance Industries and ICICI bank.

Shares in No. 2 mobile firm Reliance Communications jumped 5.6 percent to 438.80 rupees after the deadline for exclusive talks for a tie-up with South Africa's MTN ended on Tuesday with no announcement.

At 9:56 a.m., the 30-share BSE index was up 3.33 percent, or 444.57 points, at 13,794.22 with all its components gaining.

The 50-share NSE index rose 3.27 percent to 4,119.
